Instructional Strategies

Evidence-based instructional strategies are useful tools for teachers to use every day in their lessons. Grad students created these information sheets from the perspective of assisting students with learning disabilities.

ABCP

Academic Behavior Contingecy Plans can help a teacher regain control of the classroom when many students have lost focus and are misbehaving. ABCPs are typically implemented over a 6 week period.

Expectation Matrices

As a teacher - what do you expect? How do your students know your expectations? How do your students do what is expected? Teachers must provide clear and concise behavioral expectations that start with verbs (verbs=action) to get students to DO something.  Expectations are most clear when they begin with a verb and define a clear action.

Book Collections

Stories are a tool to teach diversity and inclusion in your classroom. Each of the following bibliographies focuses on a particular learning disability and includes books across grade levels.

Literacy Lessons

Graduate students selected a text to potentially teach a class about a specific learning disability. Lessons vary by disability and grade level. Use these ideas to implement acceptance and diversity through literacy in your lesson plans.
