My Statement on Inclusion

Every student can learn when they are given access to quality teaching, materials, supports, and accommodations or modifications. It is the duty of every educator and school staff member to create an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. Federal and state laws guarantee a free and quality education for all, but more than that - teachers should strive to recognize the strengths and abilities of every student, and teach to those. By building relationships with students, communicating with parents, being part of their IEP teams, learning about their challenges, and implementing or learning new teaching strategies, teachers can create inclusive classrooms where students feel welcomed and academically challenged.
